Living Proof Concert

The Living Proof Band played recently at Johnson County Park. As always, the band really rocked. I can't tell you how much I love this band and its great shows. Thanks to Chris Johnston from Johnson County parks for hosting a great night.

Take a look at some of the newest catering crazes. Mini carmel apples, decadent dessert trays and cream puff towers. Oh my!

Brides for Breast Cancer

Brides for Breast Cancer made a special trip to Indianapolis this spring and I made sure to be part of the supporting act to help them reach their goal; sell beautiful gowns to girls. All proceeds went to help cancer victims fulfill their dreams. As a survivor, it was important for me to be a part of this effort not only to sell gowns but educate others on how they can make a difference. Thank you to Brenda from It was a wonderful time.
My customer bought the first dress and then one of my brides came on Saturday and bought one too! What a thrill. I have a couple of pictures to show you the huge variety of new gowns, designer gowns, and gently used gowns that were available. This was a joint effort with so many volunteers. I had a great time with Nathan from Nathaniel Edmunds Photography, Paul Thomas from Cocktail Sax and Brian Whitis DJ.

Our Brides Against Breast CancerTM program has received more than 50,000 wedding gown donations, with an estimated resale value of over 4 million dollars. This generous endowment is due in part to Making Memories national media coverage, including magazine articles in Redbook, Family Circle, Woman's Day, Martha Stewart’s Winter Wedding, Time, Philanthropy World and Modern Bride, along with appearances on, Oprah Winfrey, CNN, MSNBC, Ananda Lewis and hundreds of television and newspaper interviews.

How to Donate Your Gown

How can you help make dreams come true? At this time, we are in need of contemporary gown styles, slips and veils dating from 2000 until the present day. Each gown that arrives at our organization is carefully prepared for our upcoming "Brides Against Breast CancerTM, Nationwide Tour of Gowns" sales. The thousands of generous donations we receive from designers, manufactures, bridal shops, and individuals worldwide, enables Making Memories to grant final wishes to women and men suffering from terminal breast cancer.

Until recently, we have been able to accept gowns from all eras and in any condition, which we sell nationally and worldwide or produce into quilted artworks. However, due to our extensive inventory of vintage, antique and retro gowns, we recommend all generous potential classic era donors withhold their contributions until we have room to accommodate these prized garments. We anticipate posting an announcement on this website when we once again have the ability to manage these treasured gifts with the respect they deserve.

A Few Words About Kim King Smith Events

I am always asked questions about "How does a wedding planner really work?" As a professional, I can tell you that I try to meet stringent criteria in ethics and education. My company strives to work for our brides and their families. Here's a little info to help you understand.

We do not charge a percentage of your entire wedding budget.
We do not accept kickbacks from vendors.
We do provide you a flat fee proposal so you know your total investment.
We do offer green and eco-friendly ideas.
We do work for you; giving you 110% effort.
and
We do try to get you all the perks possible.

Don't Forget....

Something brides and their families sometimes overlook are the champagne toasting glasses and the cake servers. We have lovely accessories that our brides may borrow. Please don't forget to include these items on your checklist prior to the wedding. They can easily be forgotten and are so necessary when needed. For more tips and trends go to Facebook's "Help Me I'm Getting Married; Kim King Smith Events to the Rescue!"

A Couple of Ideas

Here are a couple of tables our team did for a recent event. We did a lot of mixing and matching to make the tables uniqiue and affordable. We are always looking for ways to make your dream happen!

IU's Coach Hep Cancer Challenge

What a weekend! What a cause! The Coach Hep Cancer Challenge was held again this year at Indiana University. My staff and I had the privilege of volunteering. I met so many neat people with such big hearts. The supporters and survivors there were a true witness that we will beat cancer and win! Walkers, runners, and bicyclists all made a "major move" raising $1,0000's for the Simon Cancer Center.

Of course as soon as I spotted the two brides running and in the picture, I CHASED them down to talk about their wedding and get a picture! Thanks, ladies!

Nothing Tops the Cake Like These!

Thought you would like to take a glimpse of some vintage and contemporary wedding cake toppers. I think it is always fun to see what trends were and compare them to today's. I discovered several of these at a hospital benefit antique and art show, Exit 76 Antique Mall and in my mother's china cabinet. All of these range from today to over 75 years ago! Enjoy!!

Beautiful Brown County

My company had the pleasure of coordinating a beautiful Brown County wedding! The rolling green hills and mirrored lake were the perfect elements for a May wedding. With kelly green and the lemon yellow colors the wedding palette worked beautifully with nature's. Many thanks to AClassic Party Rental for a superb job in providing many of the elements. I just can't explain how gorgeous and fun this wedding was.
